Direct answer: Only an auction admin can remove a bid, cancel a purchase, or remove a winner. A bidder cannot delete their own bid. In the left sidebar, under CAMPAIGN, click Activity Feed, then open Bid History. Remove the bid from that list. Removing the winning bid removes the winner.

There is no left-sidebar item named Bids. People get lost looking for a bids link. Use **Activity Feed**, then the **Bid History** tab.

## Who can remove a bid

Only an auction admin.

- A bidder cannot delete their own bid.

- **Staff** access is full auction management. That is the auction-admin role.

- **Volunteer** access is for check-in and kiosk only.

To give someone auction-admin access, see [How to Add or Edit Auction Administrators](https://charityauctions.com/help/how-to-add-or-edit-auction-administrators).

## Remove a bid from Bid History

Use this to remove a bid, cancel a bid, delete a bid, or undo a bid that was entered or assigned in error.

- Go to your dashboard.

- Click **Manage auction** on the auction card. That opens Campaign Hub.

- In the left sidebar, under **CAMPAIGN**, click **Activity Feed**.

- Click the **Bid History** tab. Stay on this tab.

- The heading is **Bid History by Item**.

- Click **Expand all**, or click **Bid History** on the item card.

- Remove the bid from that list.

Each bid shows the bidder name, amount, and date and time. The winning bid shows **Winner**. Some bids also show **Buy Now**.

Note: There is no sidebar item named Post Event Tasks. There is no sidebar item named Bids. The page URL may still include /post-event-tasks/reports .

For how Bid History looks, see [How to See Bids (Bid History)](https://charityauctions.com/help/how-to-see-all-bidders-on-an-item).

## Cancel a purchase or a Buy Now

There is no separate cancel-purchase screen. Cancel a purchase from **Bid History** or from the invoice, depending on whether they have paid.

**The bid or Buy Now is still on Bid History, and they have not paid.** Remove that bid from the Bid History list. Buy Now rows show a **Buy Now** label there. Use the same steps as Remove a bid from Bid History.

**Instant Buy Now Payment was ON, and they already paid.** That purchase went to checkout and was marked paid. Do not use Bid History to undo a paid Buy Now. See [How to Issue a Refund to a Bidder](https://charityauctions.com/help/how-to-issue-a-refund-to-a-bidder). The Instant Buy Now Payment setting is on **Campaign Settings** → **Payments**. See [Require Immediate Payment for Buy Now Items](https://charityauctions.com/help/require-immediate-payment-for-buy-now-items).

**The item is already on an invoice.** See Take an item off an invoice below.

## Remove a winner

Remove the winning bid. That is how you take a winner off an item.

On **Bid History**, find the bid with the **Winner** label. Remove that bid.

## Take an item off an invoice

If the item is already on an invoice, the path depends on the item type.

**View Only Pre Bid items you entered by hand.** You can remove that item from the invoice.

**Online auction items.** You cannot take those off the invoice yourself. Support must remove them, and only while the invoice is still unpaid. Email **[support@charityauctions.com](mailto:support@charityauctions.com)**. Include the auction, the bidder, and the invoice. See [How to Contact CharityAuctions Support](https://charityauctions.com/help/how-to-contact-charityauctions-support).

If the invoice is already paid, see [How to Issue a Refund to a Bidder](https://charityauctions.com/help/how-to-issue-a-refund-to-a-bidder).

To open invoices: in the left sidebar, under **TOOLS**, click **Invoices & Payouts**. The heading is **Manage Invoices**. See [Managing Invoices and Collecting Payments](https://charityauctions.com/help/managing-invoices-and-collecting-payments).
