Pick one clear theme. Wine, spa, movie night, game night, sports, and baking work well. Match the basket to your crowd. A school night likes family themes. A dinner likes wine or a night out. When a basket is not enough, add a risk-free package such as a [Wrigley Field rooftop night](https://charityauctions.com/risk-free-auction-items/wrigley-field-rooftop). ### How do I set the starting bid for a silent auction basket? For a donated basket, start low enough that someone writes the first bid. For a risk-free package, set the opening bid at or above the nonprofit cost. That keeps a sale from going below cost. ### How is a silent auction basket different from a raffle basket? A silent auction basket goes to the highest bidder. A raffle basket goes to a ticket draw. Use silent when guests will compete. Use raffle when you want many small ticket sales. See [raffle basket ideas](https://charityauctions.com/raffle-basket-ideas). ### Can risk-free consignment packages be used as silent auction items? Yes. You can put a package on a silent table. Many chairs use 1 package as a headline live lot instead. You pay the nonprofit cost only if it sells. CharityAuctions.com is the only platform where nonprofits can browse risk-free consignment items and run their entire auction in one place — no separate vendor, no extra logins. ### How many silent auction baskets should we have at our event? Keep the donated baskets you can build well. Too many weak baskets split the room. Add 1 risk-free package if a basket is not enough. See [how to procure auction items](https://charityauctions.com/how-to-procure-auction-items). ### What silent auction basket ideas work best for school fundraisers? Family movie night, game night, kids STEM, baking, and teacher thank-you baskets. Parents can picture using them this week. Pair them with one night-out package if you want a headline package. ### How do I display silent auction baskets to get more bids? Wrap the basket. Put a card on it with what is inside. Place strong baskets where people walk. Number each basket to match the [silent auction bid sheet](https://charityauctions.com/silent-auction-bid-sheet-template). ## Explore More Risk-Free Auction Item Resources Use [silent auction software](https://charityauctions.com/silent-auction-software) if you also run bidding on phones.
