Where Can I Find My Auction Share Link

Direct answer: Open your auction and click Promote (next to Preview). Your standard link, https://charityauctions.com/event/auction/{auctionId}, is under Link to share and always works; a custom link for social and email is below it.

Every auction has a share link. Guests open it and land on your auction page.

Open Promote to copy it. You can also save a short Custom link that is easier to say out loud.

Open Promote

1. Open your auction.
2. Click Promote. It sits next to Preview.
3. The path looks like /admin/auctions/{auctionId}/design-and-promote/promote.

Find Your link. Link to share is the URL you copy.

The standard link always works

The standard link looks like:

https://charityauctions.com/event/auction/{auctionId}

That link stays on your auction. It works if you never set a custom name. It still works after you save or remove a custom name.

Custom link (for social & email)

On Promote, find Custom link (for social & email).

Copy on that block: Pick a short, memorable URL. Guests open it and land on your auction page.

On-screen steps:

1. Choose a name (letters, numbers, hyphens).
2. Save your link name.
3. Share your /e/your-name link; it forwards to your auction.

Set the Link name

1. Find the field labeled Link name.
2. The input is prefixed with .../e/.
3. The placeholder is spring-gala-2026.
4. Type a short name.
5. Watch the live preview: https://charityauctions.com/e/your-name. It updates as you type.
6. Click Save.

Save stays disabled when the field is empty or unchanged. After a successful save, a Remove button appears.

A helpful tip: A short custom link is easier to say out loud. Save it, then copy it into texts, email, and posts.

What the name may become

The UI says letters, numbers, and hyphens. The field does not show an error for other characters. It cleans the name as you type.

• Letters become lowercase.
• Spaces, underscores, &, and ! are stripped.

Example: typing Test Name_With Spaces & CAPS! becomes testnamewithspacescaps.

There is no maxlength on the input. A 63-character name saves.

If the name is taken

Names are unique across auctions. If another auction already uses that name, Save is rejected with This name is already taken. Pick a different name.

After you save

Link to share under Your link becomes https://charityauctions.com/e/<name>.

That same URL also flows into:

• The QR code
• When they open your link preview
• Website embed code
• Press-release template
• Email invitation

Guests who open https://charityauctions.com/e/your-name land on your auction page.

Change or remove the custom name

Do not change the custom name after you start sharing it. If you save a new Link name, the old /e/ name will no longer work.

To change it anyway, type a new Link name and click Save. See How to Set or Change a Custom Auction URL.

Click Remove. After that, /e/your-name returns 404. That old name will no longer work. Use the standard event/auction/{auctionId} link instead.

Two Link name fields

Promote can show two Link name inputs at once. One sits under Custom link (for social & email). One sits under Make a short link. Both stay in sync. Change one, and the other matches.

If Link name looks empty after you reload

After a reload, Link name can look empty even when the custom link is still saved.

Do not assume it is gone. Check:

• Link to share under Your link
• The QR code, embed code, press-release template, or email invitation
• The live address https://charityauctions.com/e/your-name

If that address forwards to your auction, the name is still set.

How to use the link

Copy Link to share. Then:

• Text it
• Put it in email
• Post it
• Add it to your website
• Put it on a flyer
