How to Create and Download Gift Certificates
You can turn an auction item into a downloadable gift certificate from Item Catalog. Create the certificate on the item form. Download it from the row Actions menu.
Open Item Catalog
- Go to your dashboard.
- Click Manage auction on the auction card, or open the campaign.
- In the left sidebar, under Fundraising Modules, click Online Auction. You land on Item Catalog.
The page URL includes /admin/auctions/{id}/item-management/item-catalog.
Add an item
- Click Add your first item. If you already have items, use the add item control on that page.
- Enter a Title.
- Set Category. This field is often pre-filled as General Items.
- Enter at least one price, such as Starting Bid.
You cannot save the item without those required fields.
Turn on a downloadable certificate
Gift certificate settings are at the bottom of the item form. They are not inside Advanced Options.
- Scroll to the Gift Certificate (Optional) accordion.
- Open it.
- Check Create a Downloadable Certificate.
- Enter Redemption instructions. This field is required.
- Add an Expiration date if you want one. That field is optional.
- Leave Include signature lines on unless you want it off. It is on by default.
- Save Item.
Download the certificate
After you save, the catalog row shows a Certificate badge next to the item name.
That badge is not the download.
To download:
- Stay on Item Catalog.
- Find the item row.
- Open the ⋯ Actions menu on that row.
- Click Download Certificate.
The Actions menu also includes Edit, Duplicate, and Delete. Use Download Certificate for the file.
If the certificate will not download
If you are trying to download gift certificates and they will not download, you are likely clicking the Certificate badge. That badge only marks the item.
Open the ⋯ Actions menu on the same row. Click Download Certificate.
